Dr. Liz Brucchieri ---aka Dr B.

Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Liz Brucchieri had wanted to be a veterinarian since she was a small child growing up in Rapid City, South Dakota.  She idolized her uncle who was almost exclusively a small animal surgeon and she pursued veterinary medicine from middle school on.  She did her undergraduate studies in Missouri at Northeast Missouri State (now Truman College) in Kirksville, Missouri where she played Division II volleyball and was a member of TriSigma sorority.

She was accepted into veterinary school after three years of undergraduate studies so moved to Columbus, Ohio to start her training at The Ohio State University.  After graduation and receiving her doctorate in veterinary medicine,  Dr. B did a one-year rotating internship at MedVet/CVES in Columbus, OH.  She continued to work there shortly after as an emergency veterinarian.

When she and her husband became pregnant with their first daughter, Amanda, they moved to Flagstaff, Arizona where Dr. B’s parents now reside.  They started a veterinary practice and later purchased an additional hospital.  The hospitals were combined into one practice.
This combined practice grew quickly from a one-doctor hospital in a 1,500 square foot building to a six-doctor practice in a 13,000 square foot building.  Dr. B enjoyed doing medicine, ultrasound and orthopedic surgery in this high-caseload hospital and was able to develop more extensively as a veterinarian working 24-hour emergency as well as general practice.  She learned so much about people and their pets and the importance of this bond in their lives.

12 years and 3 additional children later, the family moved to Houston, Texas for a couple years where Dr. B did additional training and studies at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists doing a surgical fellowship. She received additional surgery insight here which helped her develop more extensive surgical skills.   She did however, miss doing ultrasounds, difficult medical cases and seeing her clients on a more regular basis.  Her family decided to go back to the home of her husband’s family…..CLEVELAND, OHIO!  Dr. B worked at the Spay Neuter Clinic for a little while, as she took time to develop ideas for her new “hospital home”.  She is happy to be back in general practice and is proud to be the owner and founder of Porter Pet Hospital.  She has a passion for providing affordable veterinary care, helping rescue pets and groups, loves almost all things surgery and has started to do the TPLO (Tibial-Plateau-Leveling Osteotomy) surgery at Porter Pet to treat the ever-so-common anterior cruciate ligament injury that occur in so many pets today.
